Join me in Alaska this summer!

botany 2022
I'm thrilled to share that I'll be delivering the plenary lecture at the Botany 2022 conference in Anchorage, Alaska! I'm so excited to share the exciting research underway in the Quave Research Group and talk about my journey as a disabled woman in science with my fellow botanists! Join me there from July 24-27, 2022! More information on the schedule, symposia and workshops available on the conference website.

What I'm Watching

In celebration of International Mountains Day, I watched the new documentary 14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible now streaming on Netflix. You don't need to have aspirations of climbing mountains to be inspired by this film! I also really appreciated how they highlighted the incredible skills and sacrifice of the Sherpas, who are often left unacknowledged by Western mountaineers. Read a review of the film here.

What I'm Reading

I came across a wonderful blog post Ancient Healthcare Fit for a King by Krisztian Simko that describes the 2,600-year-old handbook for medicine: ‘The Nineveh Medical Encyclopaedia’. This incredible record contains thousands of descriptions of symptoms and diseases along with therapeutic prescriptions (many of which involve plants!). The blog describes an impressive project underway to translate the handbook into English.

I was honored to be interviewed for Living with Amplitude, a magazine for the amputee community! You can read the full interview here.
